![]() Reaching the U-turn at about 11.5K we made our way back running strong together. Soon we started spotting the speedsters on the other side and cheered them on. Catching sight of some waddling ducks, we ran quacking after them, as the bemused villagers looked on. If that wasn’t enough, there was the beach on one side of the road and orchards on the other □. It was brilliant running on empty roads after the recent overcrowded TMM bas apna hi rasta ☺. Raj was way ahead while the girls Deepika and Gayatri along with Aniket ran along with us exchanging shy smiles □. Enjoying the sight of the beautiful sunrise we moved ahead.įurther down, some small kids decided to join us for the next kilometer racing ahead as they laughed. Sooner than we knew it we had covered 5-6K as we ran thanking the villagers as we went. We made sure to stop at the Aid Stations placed strategically at every 2K fueling up on water, enerzal, dates and chikoos of course □. Of course I couldn’t resist the chance to tease him about his newest truck smoke addiction □. As we ran on, he regaled us with his stories about Comrades, Valsad Marathon and Intercity runs amongst others. 4-5 of us ran comfortably together with Satish Sir who told us to stick together. We ran comfortably towards the Vijay stambh taking a U-turn and headed back high fiving our friends as we passed by □. ![]() Saurabh and I had decided to run along with 2-hour pacer Satish Gujaran assured of a smooth ride □.Īt precisely 6:45 AM we were flagged off by Hockey Legend, Dhanraj Pillai. After a quick warm up, we made our way to the Starting Line Up. ![]() It was good to see some familiar faces as we waited in the Holding area enjoying the lovely weather. On Sunday morning Ashok, Saurabh and I went ahead for our 21K along with Vinod at 6:15 while the others doing 10K decided to come a bit later in Sachin’s car. Yes yes, we hadn’t forgotten we were there for the Run the next morning □. By 10PM we reluctantly retired to our rooms for the night. Raut, the owner Nimesh’s mom sitting around the bonfire in the nippy air hit just the right spot. Some of us enjoyed the Swings while others had fun with Archery and Table tennis. All refreshed, we drove to the Bib collection area which was right next to the Chikoo Festival grounds just 3K from our farm. The chikoos were just so tasty that we couldn’t resist picking up and eating some right then and there □. Dumping our bags we were soon exploring the place oohing and aahing over the swings, games, bonfire pit, swimming pool and chikoo orchard. ![]() Amidst loads of leg-pulling, jovial banter, random singing and laughter the roads rolled by and we quickly reached Rainbow Farms by 1 PM. On Saturday morning, Anupma Diddi, Sonali Patil, Saurabh Chang Golam and I took off in Sachin Gupta’s car at 9:30 from Powai picking up Reshma Salian enroute while the others followed later in separate cars. Just prior to TMM, we booked a 3BHK Bungalow at Rainbow Farms that could easily accommodate all of us and we were all set. Needless to say, the gang immediately started making plans for our next Runcation □. Months later, I was thrilled when Aniket called to tell me about the upcoming First edition of the Chikoo Marathon. Last year when I met Aniket Save at the MRR Anniversary Bash when he told me about the recent Chikoo Festival at Bordi, we immediately started discussing about going the following year □.
